Richard Trevithick was a British inventor and mining engineer, born 13 April 1771, died 22 April 1833. He was mostly known for his steam locomotives. On 21 February 1804, the worlds first locomotive ran on a railway. The journey took place on a railway to the Pennydarren-Ironworks.
