Learning in the making.

On the first Friday of school we had learning in the making. Learning in the making is when we do 4 activities and I did, scout skills, team building, my life weaving and badminton. My favorite was badminton, because it is kind of like tennis and I like tennis. In badminton I learnt how to hit the shuttle properly. I would always miss the shuttle but now I can finally hit it over the net.

In scout skills we had to go on a burma trail with a blindfold over our eyes, it was tricky because we had to go through trees and tunnels. In team building we played spotty problems and cross the river. In my life weaving, we used a canvas and weaved through some pieces of string.

The year six bike 2nd group.

On Friday in week 3 term 4, I went on a bike ride with some other year 6’s through the Karangahake Gorge. Mum came along with me and it was long, but fun. We had to go through a dark tunnel, on the edge of a mountain near the water and over a swing bridge. We also  went and looked at a beautiful waterfall.
At one part of the bike ride we stopped to have something to eat, after that we all went for a walk and look at a abandoned mine. At end of our bike ride we went and got something to eat from Mcdonald's in Peoria.

Labour Day

IN NZ we celebrate Labour Day on the 4th Monday of October because, in 1840, a carpenter named Samuel Parnell refused to work more than eight hours a day

We celebrate this day as a day of rest and no school or work and it gives us time to spend with our families. On Labour Day this year we went to my sister’s house for a few hours and then we went home.

My Holiday Recount.

On the second Sunday of the holidays my family and I went to Hamilton and did the Warrior Code. Before we did the Warrior Code we did a few fun activities. Some of the activities that I did were build a giant lego car, elephant ears (you could hear what an elephant hears) and life size connect four. When we went down stairs  to do the Warrior Code there were three activities and ten questions. Once you had done each activatie you got a number on each activatie screen, these are the three activities biking ( You raced the van on the screen while you are on a stationary bike.) , recycling ( You had to put the plastics cardboard and rubbish into the right bin) and power usage (When the one of the lights turn on you had to tap the screen to turn the appliance off). You also had to answer each question. Once you are done, you took your pieces of paper to a certain person and got given a badge relating to a certain description.
