Silverdale Primary School in Auckland has decided to cancel their prize giving. They think that it is not fair to rate their students. I think that this has to sides to it.
1. If there is no prizegiving than students might not think that they are working towards anything.
2. If they cancel the prizegiving the students won't feel like they missed out.
I don't really know what is the best option is but personally, I think the shouldn't have it.
UNO is a number card game. The aim of the game is to be the first to run out of cards. The game starts from the left of the dealer. You place down number cards matching the colour or the number. There are also power cards including +2, +4, change colour, skip.
3 skills you might need:
Time planning, you will need to plan to put a card down at the right time. Because sometimes it can backfire.
Lying, it is sort of like poker. You will need to make sure no one else can figure out what card you have.
Reading, you need to make sure you know what card you have.
This week was a very normal week. There isn't really much to talk about. So that is about it. Hopefully next week there is something exciting to write about.
This is NOT MY comic. Miss Coles wants us to write about what we think is happing in the is comic. So, Calvin is the boy. Calvin seems to be bullying the plant. I think that Calvin is being very selfish. I think he learnt not to be so mean. Here is my comic
Well, this week was the first week of Term 3. Yaay. Ok, there has been a lot of things that have happened this week. So I will only say a few. The first thing we have a new Chapter Chat book called 'The Recruit'. It's good so far but not for the main character, James. He has a mean stepdad. His Mum died and now he's at an orphanage thing. Oh, he also can't see his sister much. We also changed learning teams. Last term I was a Pavlova and now I am a Rocket. Based off of Groots racoon companion. The lunch times have also changed. Again, yes. Anyway, those were the main things. Have a good weekend.
Okay, so this week has gone really s l o w l y. I don't know why this is. Anyway, I think that I am doing good this week with my learning. I also made a paper box from scratch for Chapter Chat. I think that it is good. I also helped film and edit a video with my friends. I think that it turned out good. Christopher (one of my friends) used a green screen for one scene. Anyway, this week was a simple week. But I did have a fight with one of my friends. That's all for this week.
WOW. Ngatea is wanting to be one of the first plastic bag free towns. Yay. Personally, I think that this is amazing and good for the environment. I am really happy that they are doing this. I think that this will make a big difference. But I not really sure on how some people of the community will take it. Well, that is all I have to say and I hope it makes a good effect.
On Sunday it was my 13th birthday. (Yay??). Anyway, we went to MOTAT in Auckland. It was really fun. The people who came was my sister and her friend. Me and two of my friends, my mum. My nana and her friend. There were a lot of people how came to my birthday. My favourite part of MOTAT was doing on the tram.
The presents that I got was a Lego set, a pocket watch, money, lollies and gum. Oh and pickled onions. Yum. I am really thankful for all my gifts.
This week was a short week because of the Queens Birthday. This week we have been singing and learning the song "I'll Be There For You". I think that I have done well at the song. One thing that I have found hard is writing a compulsory story for Toi Toi, which I have not completed. This was mainly because of having a short week. But I am happy that is Friday because my Birthday is on Sunday and I can't wait. Oh and this week we made a frame for our self. I think that mine is cool. We also started doing our IE (Individual Endeavour). Mine is on the Thames mining history.
Dear Minister Of Education, I have heard that you will be cutting one of the school subjects. Now, I am a year 8 from Ngatea Primary School and I would be really disappointed if you were to take away one of school's most important subjects, writing. Now I know that you and your team will put a lot of thought into this problem. But writing is one of the most important parts of the curriculum and also the future of us children and teenagers. Here are some reasons that why I think that you should not get rid of writing: Writing will help us in the future. Writing is an easy way to communicate. Writing is just important overall. If you were to cancel writing it would be an ignominy. From Dilyn.
Leadership, so what is it. It means to take charge of a group of people or company. There sometimes can be a confusion between boss and leader. The difference is that leaders inspire people, while a boss gives the instructions. So there you have it.
I have a lot of dreams for my future and not only mine but the planet. The one for the planet is that I want the planet to have less pollution in the future. My dreams are to be a famous actor and dive trains for the Kiwi Rail company.
I usually take lead the within my friends making sure that everyone can be friends again even if they have a fight. I also make sure that everyone is having fun and laughing.
Okay, so this week most of Marama went to Hamilton for NYLD 2018 or National Young Leaders Day 2018. On Monday I had to get up really early because we had to be at school at 10 to 8 a.m. because we had to leave school at 8 a.m, because NYLD started at 9: 30 a.m. Anyway, kind of what we did was sit down all day and listen to famous people from New Zealand talk about leadership. But there was one person who was interesting. Her name was Riley and she talked about looking after the Earth.
One day I woke up to my cat DJ speaking...., Irish. "Heileo DJ is ainm dom" said DJ. "Um," I said. This was one of the most strangest things that has ever happen to me. As I was getting ready for school my cat would keep on say her opinion on everything I did. I was so glad to go to school. When I got home my cat was still speaking Irish.
Okay, so this week has been extremely different mainly because of the new time layout. What I mean by this is that the lunch breaks have been now spread out during the day, so that there is now three lunch breaks instead of two breaks. We have also started Technology which is a bunch of different activities we do for about a term. The activity that I got into is filming and photography. This workshop is run by our school I.T teacher, Mr Singh. In this group I have been put into a smaller of three students including my self.
In the Easter Weekend, I got a new lego set. The Lego set was a train station that I have wanted for a while I am proud of my Purches.
Here is a mini version that I made.
Heavy rain has forced a number of roads around Hawke's Bay and the Napier-Taupo road, as a strong weather hits the region.
The Eastern District Police this morning said State Highway 5 between Napier and Taupo would be closed for the foreseeable future due to surface flooding.
NZTA have said Makahu Road is shut, and falls have closed Glengarry Road and Waipunga Road.
Today this guy called Lex came in to talk to us about our choices and who we are. He told us a lot of story about his friends and he told a lot of jokes. My favourite joke was when he said he will track us down if we said something negative. Hahahaha. After morning tea we did two activities. The first one I did was starting a self-portrait with zentangling. The second on was finding out what animal we were out of a Lion, a Bever, an Otter and a Golden Retriever. Surprisingly I was a Golden Retriever because I am kind. I also got a Bever somehow I am organised.
The main thing that I learnt was my animal type out of the options and nothing much.
I do not like getting out of my comfort zone and this relates to a train because they stay on the tracks and don't go off-road (or off the tracks). I do not like stopping ut till I get to my detonating or place I need to be and trains do not have to give way to other roads vehicles.
Week 1 has passed, surprisingly it went quite fast. Most of Marama went swimming each day but I only remembered to bring my togs on Friday :(. We also have a new teacher Miss Darrah. I also liked catching up with my friends.
My highest learning smart is Naturalistic (50/100), which I was quite surprised by. This means that iI like learning, being around and trying to care for nature. I am quite happy about this. (Whenever my family goes shopping I try to persuade them to not use any plastic bags)
My second highest was Intrapersonal and this means that I work best alone this does not mean that I am shy, but I just am independent and organised. This kind of sounds like me because in Teach I liked to work alone because could chose what I did.
Yesterday at school Marama went to Waihi Beach. We left school at about 8.30 a.m. When we arrived we went into the Surf Club, where some lifeguards talked to us about beach and ocean safety. I am pretty sure the lifeguards started lifesaving ate the age of 14. We also got a tour of the lifeguard tower and the First Aid Room.
•Here are some ways to spot a rip, Foamy Water, Discoloured Water and Calm Paches.
•We learned how the lifeguards save people by using the I.R.B {Inflatable Rescue Boat}.
•Recue Tubes can hold up to 8 grow people.
